Happy Heartbeat Day!

Hi everyone!
I just want to put out there that I miss all my friends and kids in Mandeville. I am horrible at keeping in touch, so I seriously apologize for that. If I used to babysit for you, give those kids huge hugs and kisses for me because I think of them so much. I can only wish that my child turns out as amazing as your children...They have been a joy to watch grow up. I just wish I was still there to see them! :(

Anywho, that brings me to today... Today is my baby's heartbeat day! Today, according to my pregnancy calendar, little baby Mickey Mouse's heart is beating as I write this! The past few days I have really been experiencing the whole sick thing. The nausea, cramping and emotions are on full force. I just deal with it by telling the little bugger to knock it off! I mean, what else can I do?

This past weekend, mom and Ali came to visit. Mom got here on Thursday, dropped Ali off and went to Marksville for a car show. Ali stayed through the weekend and on Sunday, Brandon and I met mom at a Cracker Barrel in Lake Charles and handed Ali over. We had a really good time. She is always a nice change of pace to have around. :)

Have a great week and don't forget to give those kids kisses for me!

Big announcement!

This was what I saw with the first test on St. Patty's Day...

This is what I saw when I took the digital test! No questions there!

My first doctor's appointment with Dr. Plavidal is on April 14th and at that appointment, we will get our first ultrasound! At that time I will be 8 weeks along. I'll be sure to post that picture once I get it!

I'm feeling pretty good though! I mean, my lady lumps are killing me and I am super crampy all the time. I've only had 2 severe boughts with nausea so far (doing taxes and Carretta's actually) and today I got my first glimpse into what it will be like peeing every five minutes! That's not good for me because I LOVE my route 44 diet cokes! (Only allowed one a day---checked it!) You can't do super target when you have to pee every five minutes!

Anywho, we are really excited about it. Brandon is so cute when he talks to Mickey Mouse. This is such a life changing thing. So much to take in. We've got it though. We're ready...well, almost. :) I'll keep everyone updated!

Weekly Happenings!

Sorry it's been so long since I've updated. We've been crazy busy this past week! As many of you know, we left on Thursday to go to Louisiana for Brandon's birthday and Candice's baby shower. We were supposed to leave Wednesday, but Brandon was invited to his bosses house for dinner that night and a bunch of the big wigs were going to be there, so there was no way he was missing that! Thursday was his birthday...We drove all day and we got there around six...We didn't do too much, just laid around at Brandon's and enjoyed not being in a car anymore! Friday, we went over to my mom's house and to sing happy birthday to Brandon. Mom finally got all of us together for dinner!
Yeayyy mom!
We will have to do that more often. It was a lot of fun.

We got to see Jack and we actually got to sit around and talk! Well, we mostly played with Jack. You would swear we had never seen a child before!!! First baby syndrome in the Evans clan, I guess. >
It was really nice. When I get to come in town for a weekend, it is just not possible to get to see everyone I want to see. It really sucks, but I guess that's just the way it is...After that, we hurried back to Brandon's and sang happy birthday to Brandon before Abby went to sleep.
Abby was practicing saying Happy Birthday for him, so she had to be there when he opened presents. She absolutely adores Brandon. Everytime he is there, she walks around looking for him, yelling, "Bub! Bub!". It is too cute.

Saturday we had Candice's baby shower for baby Drew at Pre-Natal Pics in Mandeville. It was so cool.
That place is really nice. I didn't think it would be that big, but it was and it was really cool that they let us hold the shower there. We got to see Drew and Candice got lots of fun baby stuff. We are supposed to be going down there in April to...well, me, Candice and Mrs. Jerry are going to see Wicked...Dave, and Mr. Mike are babysitting and Brandon will be painting the helicopter mural on the wall. I love watching him paint. It is so bad ass...

Anywho, Brandon is leaving for Alabama again next week. He will be gone for two days again and mom is bringing Ali to come and spend the weekend. It should be fun. I can't wait to have that little bugger clean my kitchen for me! Not mom...Ali. :) She likes doing it, so I don't mind asking her. :)

Well, I'll try to update again sooner next time.
Maybe it will ACTUALLY be something interesting next time!

End the R-Word!

As many of you know, my sister Ali has Downs Syndrome and I have worked with handicapped kids for years. I have ALWAYS hated the word "retarded". When I hear it, it is a punch in the gut to my sister and all the kids I have ever worked with. Many of you know that I will quickly say, "I hate that word.", and I do. Whole heartedly. Anywho, I am not the only one who feels this way.... www.r-word.org was formed and you should go there and pledge to speak out to people who use the word in inconsiderate ways... A lot of times, it is just kids who don't understand the derogotory meaning behind it. It is important to teach them that it is just not a nice word.

Emotional and sick...enough said

So, today I am doing better than the last few days. Our wonderful family practitioner, Dr. Aga is all the way in Katy. If there was traffic, that would have taken me at least 1 hour and 15 minutes to get there, so I decided to just go to CVS' minute clinic near our house. I was really impressed. There was no line, the nurse was very attentive, they did a flu test and a strep test. Both were negative thank heavens. She listened to my lungs, they sounded clear, and she did the whole work up. They can prescribe antibiotics if needed, so I felt reassured that she would give them to me if it was necessary. Come to find out, it is an upper respiratory virus. She told me to take a few days of Claritin-D, Mucinex-D and to do a nasal rinse twice a day. She said there was no infection, so that was good. She also said that she can tell I have bad allergies...I think it is just the time of the year and everyone has bad allergies.

That being said, this was my first time doing a nasal rinse. Essentially, you put a saline solution in one nostril, it rinses your cavities and comes out the other nostril. She said nasal rinse, and I thought of this beast...

I pretty much though...YEAH RIGHT!! But she said it was really good to do on a regular basis to help around allergy season. I thought about Brandon and he could really benefit from something like that and if my allergies are as bad as she said, I guess I could as well. So, figured I would give it a shot. I came home and it was the strangest experience ever. Water shouldn't be streaming through your nose! I stayed calm (most importantly) and after I was done, the benefits were great. I found that it really helped and I would show Brandon how easy it was when he got home....

So, Brandon's home and I take him into the bathroom to show him this strange device. I start the process. Water flowing through the nose, and he screams, "Oh MY GOD! You're a water hose!".....Needless to say, I started cracking up while I had water flushing out my sinuses....NOT A GOOD IDEA! After I stopped my choking and laughing, I banned him from the bathroom, but I could still hear him giggling from the living room. It took me awhile to get my own giggles under control before I could finish.

Today, that Claritin-D and Mucinex are catching up with me. I am coughing more, but stuff is coming up SO while that's gross...that's really a good thing. My back is hurting really bad, but last night, I was up coughing all night, so I am probably going to go lay on the heating pad for a little bit...

Now, on to the emotional side of my sickness... Does this commercial make anyone else cry??????

LOL! I don't know why this commercial makes me blubber like I do!

Sick

Hello all!
Well, this past weekend Brandon and I did a lot of yard work and stuff around the house. We cut the grass, weed eated the grass, fertilized the lawn, painted our bathroom, AND hung a bunch of stuff up in the guest bedroom. We did a whole bunch, but today I am feeling the wrath of that yard work.

Last week, I was on weather.com a lot and saw that almost everyday that week, we would have a allergy alert. Now, I lived in Louisiana (land of pinetrees galore) my entire life and have NEVER heard an allergy alert issued.

Anywho, I didn't think too much of it. I was mostly worried about Brandon being outside doing yard work because his allergies are so bad, but as long as he has Claritin in him, he is good. I haven't gotten sick in so long, I wasn't concerned about myself. Working at an elementry school for 5 years had my immune system insanely awesome. I mean, Stomach things, yeah, I have always and will always have stomach issues, but sick sick? Today, I was running a fever and coughing up my lungs. My throat is hurting, and worst of all, my chest feels like it weighs a ton and it H.U.R.T.S. I was supposed to go to dinner tonight with Brandon and Mr. Mike, but after a trip to Wal-Mart, I came home and glued myself to the couch. Brandon brought me home some dinner and now I am just hanging out watching Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix on Tivo. Tivo knows me too well. ;)

Anywho, I took a bath and that helped a lot, enough to make my back and chest feel better. Brandon was supposed to leave to go to Alabama tomorrow, but today, they cancelled the trip, so they are going to go Sunday night and come back Tuesday. Then, on Wednesday evening we are supposed to leave to go to Louisiana for Brandon's birthday and Candice's baby shower as long as everything goes as planned. I hope it does, I hate it when my plans get messed up.

Here is a picture of Brandon and his first time using his new mower.

Here is the bathroom that we painted. We have a lot of touch=ups to do, but for the most part it is done!

We also finished decorating our guest bedroom for the most part. Well, we hung a shelve and drapes.
